Here is everything you need to know about fitting a decal on a motorbike

About our decals

We offer great variety of decal sets (more than 2000). Some of them are small and consist only of several logos, like this Kawasaki ZX-10R set, for example, and others have more than 30 pieces and consist of some really big graphics, that cover almost half of the fairing. This Suzuki GSX-R 1100 set is a great example.

How to apply small decals

So obviously the applying process for these two sets will be completely different. Small die-cut logos in most cases are covered with transparent transfer tape. This tape will help you to transfer the decal from its background paper to the fairing where it belongs. After you apply the sticker, you remove the transfer tape and you’re ready. The reason for having this transfer tape on top of the decal is simple: for example the “Kawasaki” logo from the already mentioned ZX-10R set is die-cut. This means, that every letter is separated from the rest and is basically a single decal. So in this “Kawasaki” logo you basically have 8 separated decals. And to put them on your bike in the same order and place, that you have them on the background paper, you need to have transfer tape. The aim is that when you lift the transfer tape, all the letters will stay on the back of it. That way you will lift them all together and then put them on the bike in absolutely the same order as they should be. With this type of decals you don’t need any water or soap. You just need to push them from one side to the other with a Squeegee or a credit card, so there will be no air underneath the decal. Finally you remove the transfer tape and that’s it – job done.

How to apply large decals

In the other hand there are some big one-piece graphics, that are sometimes longer than 500mm. This type of decals don’t need any transfer tape on them. Firstly because they are made from only one piece and in that case the transfer tape will not have anything to hold in place and secondly because it will prevent the graphics from stretching. The fairings and panels of a motorcycle are always curvy. And to get a big decal to follow the curves of the panel you need to stretch it a little bit. So if you have transfer tape on top of such decal it will be much harder for you to stretch it. For stretching a decal the first thing you need is heat. It may come from a heat gun or a hair dryer, it doesn’t matter, the final result will be similar. The heat will make the vinyl weaker for a moment and in this exact moment you can stretch it just a little, so it can go around the curve of the panel. And when the vinyl cools down, it will get back to its original thickness.

The other thing you need when applying bigger decal is “soapy water”, which is basically water mixed with normal liquid soap for washing hands. You need to spray the soapy water on the panel and on the back of the decal in the same time. That way when you put the decal on the fairing, it will not stick. And that is exactly what you need at the beginning, because that will help you to put the decal on its exact place where it should be and that never happens on the first try. The decal needs some adjusting, so it can go on its exact place. So the soapy water will help you to slide the decal where it should be. When you succeed with that, you need to start removing the soapy water. For that purpose you will have a professional squeegee included in your package along with the decal set. When you start pushing the top of the decal with the squeegee, the soapy water underneath the decal will start to go to the edges and then out. After all of the water is out, the adhesive of the decal will start doing its job again and the decal will be finally placed. The soapy water also has another benefit: using it will avoid getting any air bubbles trapped underneath the decal. It is absolutely impossible to apply a big decal and not having air bubbles underneath without the help of soapy water. In some cases some drops of the soapy water itself can be trapped underneath the decal, but that can be easily resolved: The first solution is by just leaving it and waiting several weeks for the water to vaporize. Or if you have a very sharp model knife, you can cut a 2-3mm section of the vinyl just above the water bubble and then push the water out.

See our detailed YouTube explanation videos

We have created some detailed YouTube videos, that show the whole process of applying all types of decals – from the biggest and longest stripes of the ’07 Honda CBR 1000RR Fireblade, that go through a lot of curves, to the little decals from the ’07 Yamaha YZF-R6 and the '03 Kawasaki ZX-12R sticker sets. Fitting stickers on a twisty motorcycle gas tank is also worth mentioning, that's why we also created a video for the tank graphics from this '09 Honda CBR 1000RR set. Watching these videos will definitely help you get an idea of what you should do to apply the decals, that you can buy from MOTO-STICKER.COM. However, if you don’t have experience with something like that and you bought a sticker set that includes big graphics, maybe you can go to a professional and leave the installation of the decals to him. Because watching the videos doesn’t definitely guarantee you, that you will succeed to apply your decals perfectly and the last thing we want is you to ruin your stickers and to be unsatisfied with your purchase from us.

Remember, that the first thing you need to do before starting to apply any decals is to clean the panels (or the surface, that you will use to apply the decal on). Every panel must be perfectly clean and also very good degreased. You also need to work on a normal room temperature. The bike should not be ridden before you start the installation of the decals (because when you ride your bike it gets hot). If you apply the decals on your motorcycle you should leave it for 24 hours before you use it again. For this period all the water should disappear and the adhesive of the decals will stick to the surface as it should.

Take your time, be patient and careful during the installation of your decals and your bike will look as good as new again, just as the bikes of our happy customers, that you can see in our GALLERY section.

Marquez wins his sixth win in a row in Austin

Marquez wins his sixth win in a row in Austin

Repsol Honda's Marc Marquez won the MotoGP race in Austin, Texas and managed to get over his grid penalty, that he got after obstructing Pol Espargaro in qualifying on Saturday.

The reigning four-time world champion started from 4th position, but after a great ride he won the race with a 3.5 seconds margin over Movistar Yamaha's Maverick Vinales, who finished second in Austin. The last step on the podium was for Suzuki's Andrea Iannone, who made a great battle with Valentino Rossi.

However, it was the battle for fifth place, that was the most interesting one. It was Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso, who managed to finish on 5th place, after a battle with the winner from Argentina Cal Crutchlow and Yamaha Tech 3's Johann Zarco. That helped the italian to stay on the top of the general standings, however, his lead is now only 1 point over Marquez.

The hero of the day however was Marquez's teammate Dani Pedrosa, who rode in the race despite having a fracture on his wrist. He managed to finish seventh.

Here are the final results after this weekend's MotoGP race in Austin, Texas:

Honda decals and stickers

About us and our Honda decals

MOTO-STICKER offers a large variety of replacement decals and reproduction graphics for Honda motorbikes. Honda has a big range of bikes, especially in the sport and supersport classes (we all know about the mighty Fireblade, that changed the game in the superbike world when it was launched during the 90s) and we are trying to offer to our customers quality replacement stickers for the main sport Honda models, like the Honda CBR 125R/150R, Honda CBR 250R, Honda CBR 600RR, Honda CBR 1100XX and also the variety of Honda Fireblade models: CBR 900RR, CBR 919RR, CBR 929RR, CBR 954RR and CBR 1000RR (SC57 and SC59). These bikes have a lot of generations and we try to offer stickers for all of them, especially for the older models, which are already discontinued from production and are not offered from Honda anymore. From year 2008 onwards, Honda started to replace its “Honda wings” decals on the gas tanks of his bikes with a 3D emblem. We don’t offer such 3D logo emblem in our store mainly because the original one can be easily removed from the gas tank before repainting and it can be used again afterwards.
As mentioned, we do offer high quality replacement decals for almost every Honda 4-cylinder superbike. However, Honda is also famous with its V-twin sport models – the VTR/RVT and the VFR Interceptor. We have also focused our attention on these models, because they are largely popular around the world. The VTR 1000 (also called RVT 1000R in the US market) was a very successful machine in the world Superbike series in the past both in its SP-1 and SP-2 variations and we have replica decal sets and replacement graphics for almost all of its liveries, including the special Nicky Hayden edition. As for the VFR – we have sticker kits for most of its generations – from the old 750 and 400 models to the newest 800 models. See what decals we offer for the Honda Interceptor in our store and you will not be disappointed!
One of our missions is also to help for keeping the good look of the older Honda CBR 600F models, because Honda doesn’t offer replacement decals for them anymore. So if you own a CBR 600 F2, F3 or F4 and you need to restore its original look, this is the place to find stickers and graphics for it.
In MOTO-STICKER.COM you can also find complete replica decal sets for the other sport models in the Honda family. We are talking about bikes like the Honda CB400, Honda CB500, Honda CB600S, Honda CBF 1000, Honda CBX and the Honda NSR 125. Of course the Honda superbikes are not the only ones, that we offer reproduction graphics for. We also have replacement sticker sets for most of the street models in the Honda range, like the Honda X11 (CB1100SF), Honda NC700X, Honda NC750X, Honda Shadow Spirit, Honda CB Hornet, Honda XL Varadero, Honda XRV Africa Twin and the Honda VTX 1300/1800.

Decals for customization

Many Honda owners don’t want their motorcycle to look exactly like all the others. They want to stand out from the crowd and they want customized decals for their Honda. That is why in our store we offer a really large variety of custom Honda sticker sets. You can find many decal styles, colors and looks for your Honda, mainly if you own a Honda CBR 600RR, Honda CBR 929RR, 954RR or 1000RR Fireblade. We offer neon (fluorescent) decals, light reflective decals, chrome decals, “Graffiti look” decals, “leather look” decals, carbon fiber look decals, “camouflage look” decals and even pink decals for the ladies. Check them out, you won’t be disappointed! We also have a customer gallery in our website. There you can see pictures with many Honda bikes, that have our replacement decals on them. That way you can see exactly how good our replica stickers are and how well they fit to various Honda models. And remember – these pictures have been sent to us by our customers, who have taken photos of their own bikes after they have applied our decals by themselves. That is the best way for us to show our work and the quality of our decals.

Our Honda replacement stickers and graphics for older bikes

In our store you can also find a lot of decals, that are already discontinued and can not be found in the dealerships. Replacement stickers and graphics for the older Hondas like the CBR F2, F3 or F4, CBX 750F, VFR 750, CB 400, CB 500 and the CBR 900RR Fireblade are hard to find, but we do offer them, because we want to help their owners to restore the original beauty of their motorbike and enjoy them for many years to come.

Honda wheel stripes

And last, but not least – we also have a large variety of high-quality wheel stripes for most of the Honda motorcycle models with 17-inch rims. You can find them in many colors, so they can perfectly fit your Honda, no matter if it is an CBR 600RR, CBR 1000RR, or a CBR 650F.
We offer only custom alternatives to the original Honda decals, but we offer them under license from Honda and we only have top quality stickers, that you will not find anywhere else, especially for prices like this.
We love and respect the Honda brand and we hope we are contributing as good as we can, so their bikes can look perfect, no matter how old they are. Honda motorcycles should make you happy and their look should always be perfect.

About us and our Kawasaki decals

MOTO-STICKER offers a large variety of decals and graphics for Kawasaki motorbikes. Kawasaki has a wide range of motorbikes, especially in the sport and supersport classes (we all know about the Ninja family with its famous lime green color models) and we are trying to offer to our customers quality replacement stickers for the main sport models in the Kawasaki family, like the Kawasaki ZX-6R,  Kawasaki ZX-7R, Kawasaki ZX-9R, Kawasaki ZX-10R and of course the "Hayabusa killer" Kawasaki ZX-12R Ninja.

Fantastic win for Dovizioso opens the MotoGP season

The italian rider made an incredible race and showed, that this year Ducati will fight for wins and probably for the world title.

Dovi won with only 28 hundreds of the second and left his big oponent from last year - Marc Marquez second. This is the 9th MotoGP win for the italian from 179 starts.

Valentino Rossi was the last man on the podium today just several days after he signed his new contract with Yamaha, so it was a good day for Italia in MotoGP.

Rossi admitted, that his bike is not as fast as the Ducati and the Honda at the moment, but there was a lot of improvement during the race weekend, so he is confident for the next races.

The next race will be on 8th of April in Argentina.
